The refuge will reopen in December
The Rifugio Zacchi reopens in June 2022 under new management. It is a gem of stone and wood on two floors, in the splendid amphitheatre formed by the Ponze, Veunza and Mangart mountains.
The refuge is located at an altitude of 1,380 metres, on the north-eastern border of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, between Slovenia and Austria, on the territory of the municipality of Tarvisio, in the heart of the Giulian Alps.
Owned by the Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, completely renovated in 2008, it will be managed for the next fifteen years by the company owned by Alberto Martinelli.
Working alongside him operationally is a team of seven people – manager, cook, waiters and handymen – a team ready to welcome walkers and mountaineers in summer and winter.
The Rifugio Zacchi team is made up of men and women from nearby Carnia, Valcanale and Canal del Ferro. The hut will be a guarantee and a point of reference for any necessary information for those who wish to get to know and experience the place and its surroundings.
The refuge is open every year in summer (from May to the end of September) and in winter (from 1 December to Easter), available to walkers, mountaineers and nature lovers.

The refuge offers overnight accommodation. There are 20 beds in rooms furnished in typical alpine style…

Reception with restaurant service from morning to evening and overnight accommodation for hikers and mountaineers during the summer and winter seasons.
Reception with bar/restaurant service for day hikers during the opening periods (summer/winter).
The hut is open from May to September and from December to Easter, with a restaurant, bar and accommodation service.
Guarantee of accessibility and usability of the access route to the hut during the winter months by snow groomer and/or snowmobile service.
Timely updating of a dedicated website and possibility of real-time connection via webcam.
Encouragement of mountain, sports and family tourism through targeted promotional campaigns.
Possible use of the hut for educational and research activities, with visits and/or stays by schools of various levels in the local and regional area.
Availability as a venue for summer editions of the ‘Eagles’ youth school camps, organised by the ANA Sections and the Civil Protection Department.
Various collaborations with associations in the area for naturalistic, sports, recreational and informative activities.
