The Excursions

Discovering unspoilt nature

The Rifugio Alpino Zacchi can be reached via a cart track interdicted to traffic or via the CAI 512 path (classic and for Monte Svabezza/Capanna Ponza) and the CAI 513 path (for the Malga Alpe del Lago), both starting from the Fusine lakes and practicable both in summer and in winter (in winter with snowshoes). The excursion from the Fusine lakes to the refuge is one of the most beautiful and pleasant walks to be made in the Friuli mountains, discovering the still unspoilt nature of these Alps. The walk is of medium difficulty; the path is not too difficult to climb, in the silence and beauty of the beech and fir woods, until you catch a glimpse of the hut with Ponza Grande in the background.

Starting point for excursions

The hut is also an excellent starting point for excursions to ferrate and challenging climbs, as well as for all nature lovers who want to spend a few days in nature, in silence and peace. From the hut, it is possible to continue hiking towards the peaks of the Mangart, Ponza Grande, Cima Strugova, Vuenza, Piccolo Mangart di Coritenza, Diedro Cozzolino, Jalovec and the Via della Vita. Everyone can enjoy a breathtaking view from the hut’s spacious terrace, which overlooks the amphitheatre of the north and south-western faces of the Giulian Alps.
